Day. 12 07/17/19

07/17/19 Day. 12 Today started at a new campsite, this was the first campsite where we were surrounded by other campers. Waking up at 7 am wasn’t too early seen as how we had been waking up at 5:30-6 on most days, today we met up with Alex Gonyaw, who was an environmental scientist. Alex took us to his work site, where we were presented by him and his co workers, they spoke to us a lot about the environment around Klamath, and about all the fish that are going extinct. The fish that are going extinct are the Lost River Suckers which are also called “C’waam” and the Shortnose Suckers which are called Koptu, both fish are really important to the tribes around Klamath.

Day 7. Deschutes 07/12/19

It’s day 7 I believe? Not too sure. These days seem to be flying by so fast, it seems as if we wake up and then boom it’s time for sleep. But you know what they say, when the days fly by it’s usually because you’re enjoying your time, enjoying your days and I mean, what’s better then having a great time? Personally, to me, nothing beats that. Especially days out here, without cell service, without WiFi, without any connections to the outside world. It seems to me as if I continue falling in love with the outside world, more and more each day, every second, minute, and hour that goes by I realize how deeply I’ve fallen in love with her and by her I mean the Earth, OUR planet. Like i mean who doesn’t fall in love with Mother Nature, with our beautiful planet Earth. It’s days exactly like today that keep me going everyday, I love being out here, it’s what makes me feel alive, what keeps me alive. strolling through the woods, chasing the rivers with my eyes, eyeing the beautiful flowers, t

Day 10. Deschutes 07/15/19

Today is day 10, we’re getting closer and closer to being on our way back home and as bad as this may sound, I CANNOT WAIT! We’ve had so many adventures days and one of my favorite days was today, we had the opportunity to help the united states forest services, we helped them count the number of Green Tinged Paintbrush plants. We spent most of our day helping them count plants and the reason we helped them do that was because the green tinged paintbrush plants are only found in central Oregon, which means those plants aren’t found anywhere else around the world! I found that quite amazing, I found it even more amazing that I got the opportunity to partake in such astonishing event. Charmane Powers and Marlo Fishers were our guides through the flagging of the Green tinged paintbrush plant flagging, they explained to us that 20 years ago in 1994, the plant count was 87 and after counting the plants today we had a total of 414, which is quite amazing seen as how they’re not very co

Day 9. Deschutes 07/14/19

The early morning hike we took around Bend Oregon was the start of a good day and eventually the day continued and got even better. I really enjoyed getting to see different parts of the city, from urban areas to wooded areas, it all was beautiful. We got to walk alongside the woods and the river, got to see different types of views, my favorite part was getting to walk over multiple bridges and seeing the river below, there were people rafting, fishing, jogging, biking, there was many different types of people.

Day 3. Camp Chapparal 07/8/19

This very morning, I woke up and the weather was a lot cooler than it had been for the past couple of nights, when I opened my eyes the first thing I noticed was the mist along the sides of the tent, at that moment I realized that it most definitely was colder than the past mornings had been. Whether or not I wanted to get out of bed that morning, I did it anyways. I began the morning by doing my everyday morning routine, brushing my teeth, using the restroom, and attempting to clean my face, then walked over to the main campground area were everyone else was. Before breakfast I started with a cup of black tea with no sugar, plain black hot tea just how I like it, then continued with chocolate chip pancakes that one of the teams made. Breakfast continued and rapidly ended, I sat by the fire and thought about life, I thought about how lucky I was to have had to opportunity to come on the trip and thought about how I’m am going to appreciate the things I have a lot mor

Day 2 Camp Chaparral 07/7/19

Our second day at Camp Chaparral began at around 6:30 in the morning when Jessica came and shook our tent, as of our tent I mean, mine, Maria’s, and Briseida’s. As early as 6 am may sound it didn’t feel so early until it hit as soon as I began blogging, now I seem to be extremely tired and ready for a nap. As soon as I woke up I layered up because the morning was a bit cold, brushed my teeth and headed towards our “kitchen” area, it was day two, Breakfast time which meant it was my groups turn to make breakfast for everyone, we whipped up some scrambled eggs, bacon, and some English muffins that I toasted myself on the fire pit, I felt like a chef because everyone kept hyping me up and telling me that I could be married now and what not, it was actually quite funny and reminded me of home because whenever I get down in the kitchen my momma tells me “ya te puedes casar” meaning “you could get married now”. Although I may be missing home, these people make it feel like

Day 1 Camp Chaparral

Before leaving home preparing myself to be gone for two weeks was a bit nerve racking, I had never been away from home for so long without my family, although I’ve always loved traveling and adventuring out of the valley, I didn’t feel so prepared for this trip. The drive up here felt quite long, especially while driving on a gravel road for about an hour or two, that most definitely was the bumpiest ride of my life! We arrived at the camp site at around 4:00 pm, the moment we arrived I immediately jumped off the vehicle and was amazed by our surroundings, the sky was so blue, covered with fluffy clouds here and there, the trees were completely surrounding the campground, and bellow the camp ground on the other side was the river which has a rapid flow with slimy rocks and many bunches of wild flowers surrounding the bed of the river.   I’ve never been camping which such a large group of people, there’s a first for everything right? I’ve already created some great me
